Sainik Schools Society (SSS) is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The Society runs Sainik Schools. Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Sainik Schools prepare young cadets to join the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla (Pune), Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and other Training Academies for officers. At present, there are a total of 33 Sainik Schools in our country.
Sainik Schools offer admission at the level of Class VI and Class IX. Admission is based on the performance of candidates in the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE).
The objective of the Sainik Schools is to prepare the students to lead as officers in the Defence Services of our country. The schools select bright and promising students through an All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE) and focus on moulding their overall personality along with an emphasis on extracurricular activities.
Sainik Schools environment allows cadets to develop their skills in sports, academics and other extracurricular activities. Infrastructure in Sainik Schools includes running tracks, cross-country tracks, indoor games, parade grounds, boxing rings, firing ranges, canoeing clubs, horse riding clubs, mountaineering clubs, trekking and hiking club, football, hockey and cricket fields, as well as volleyball and basketball courts. Compete in sports, physical training, academics, cross country, drill and various other competitions throughout the world.
