Union Government to Set Up 100 Sainik Schools Through PPP Model: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the Union government will establish 100 new Sainik Schools across India under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The announcement was made while Mr. Shah was addressing the inauguration of two new facilities in Gujarat via video conference:

  1. Shri Motibhai R Chaudhary Sagar Sainik School (MRCSSS)
  2. Sagar Organic Plant

Key Details from the Announcement

  • Sainik Schools Initiative: Shah stated that the initiative to set up 100 new Sainik Schools would enable students from various districts, including those in Gujarat, to pursue careers in the armed forces.
  • Shri Motibhai R Chaudhary Sagar Sainik School (MRCSSS):
    • Constructed at a cost of ₹50 crore.
    • Includes facilities like smart classrooms, hostels, a library, and a canteen.
    • The Home Minister said the school would become a symbol of pride for the Mehsana district in Gujarat.
  • Sagar Organic Plant:
    • The plant has a processing capacity of 30 metric tonnes per day.
    • It is certified under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
    • Shah highlighted that this certification will help North Gujarat farmers gain access to international markets for their produce.
    • He also noted that the plant’s expansion would improve citizens’ health and enhance the income of organic farmers.

Focus on Dairy and Cooperative Sector

Mr. Shah also spoke extensively on the growth of the dairy and cooperative sector, particularly in Gujarat:

  • He encouraged farmers to adopt and consume organic products.
  • He cited the success of Dudhsagar Dairy, noting its milk collection grew from 3,300 litres per day in 1960 to 35 lakh litres per day.
  • The dairy now connects 1,250 villages in Gujarat and over 10 lakh milk producers across multiple states, with an annual turnover of ₹8,000 crore.
  • Dudhsagar Dairy operates eight dairies, two milk chilling centres, two cattle feed plants, and a cement unit.
  • The government is forming 75,000 new primary dairy cooperative societies across the country to strengthen the sector’s circular economy.
  • There are plans to ensure that 50 per cent of milk produced by cooperatives reaches national and international markets. Three multi-state cooperative societies have been set up for this goal.
  • Shah emphasized women’s vital role, mentioning that nearly 70 per cent of Amul’s total turnover comes from women contributors.

Farmer Relief

Finally, Mr. Shah mentioned that the Gujarat state government, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, had announced a relief package for farmers affected by recent unseasonal rainfall in the state.
